Michelle Sank was born and brought up in South Africa and her experiences there continue to shape her work. Sank found a passion for photography during the final year of a Fine Art degree at The Michaelis School of Art in Cape Town. She left South Africa in 1978 and has lived in Exeter since 1987. In 2001 she completed a
Master’s Degree at Leicester University. Since then her work has been exhibited, published and commissioned extensively in the UK, Europe, USA and South Africa. She has won numerous awards and has three published
books to date.
In addition to her own practice Sank also lectures in photography on the BA Photography Course at Falmouth University, Cornwall. Touch-Line is Sank’s first major commission in Devon.
