Red-fronted parakeet

The red-fronted parakeet is known by the Maori name kakariki. It is currently extinct on the main islands of New Zealand but can be found on smaller islands such as Stewart Island. This specimen was possibly collected by Miss P. Allen on the South Island. It was donated to RAMM in 1958 and was originally one of 19 birds mounted in a case.
