Pot

Here we have a burnished jar in the shape of a reed (tule) boat riding through the cosmic sea. Two men (pot handles) can be seen on deck.

Marine symbols are often portrayed on Chimú pots and reflected a time of believed supernatural events that dramatically impacted on the lives of those living on the coast i.e. flooding and earthquakes.

Made by the artisan using both moulds and shaped clay.
