Magic Lantern Slide: Cheese Market, Mount Street, Leicester
This image by William Weaver Baker shows the Buttercross in Mountsorrel, Leicestershire built in 1793. This structure is now known as the Butter Market rather than the Cheese Market as Weaver Baker labelled it. Weaver Baker predominantly took photographs of buildings and objects in Exeter, but did go further afield like this example shows. The colouring of the slide appears to be due to chemical decay.
