Magic Lantern Slide: Decorated Car, Worthing, 1913

This photograph by William Weaver Baker was taken in Worthing and shows a car heavily decorated by flowers. It is likely the car was decorated for a wedding, as indicated by the upturned horseshoe. The driver is believed to be Mrs Booth, famous for being one of the first female taxi drivers in the country. Weaver Baker dates the photograph to 1913. He more often took photographs in Exeter of buildings and objects but appears to have travelled further afield and taken photographs of scenes that interested him.
