Magic Lantern Slide: Old House in Shrewsbury

This slide by William Weaver Baker shows Bishop Percy’s House in Bridgnorth, contrary to the hand written label stating it is in Shrewsbury. The house is also known as No 52, Cartway, Bridgnorth. The house dates from 1580 and the plaque above the door states that Bishop Percy of Dromore was born here in 1728. The facade is very decorative with multiple pierced quatrefoils as part of this design. Weaver Baker mainly took photographs of buildings and objects in Exeter, but does appear to have travelled further afield to see places of special architectural interest.
