Magic Lantern Slide: A Panel of the Fireplace at 171 Fore Street, Exeter
This photographic image by William Weaver Baker records a detail of the fireplace in 171 Fore Street, which was one of Exeter’s finest historic buildings. The ornately carved fireplace no longer survives, and this image is a rare survival of its appearance, although similar items are now in the museum’s collection. Weaver Baker was very interested in historic architecture, and recorded many sites in Exeter and beyond.
