Spear
In many areas of Oceania, the sea was considered as an ancestral domain inhabited by spiritual beings. Multi-pronged spears are constructed using coconut palm blades and were intended for catching large fish such as bonito tuna and even sharks, one of the forms that the spirits could take. Such activities were, at times, associated with male initiation rites.
