Cow skull

A cattle skull collected during a rescue excavation at Queen Street in the centre of historic Exeter. The skull dates from the Roman period and shows evidence for butchery. It is part of a larger faunal bone assemblage which has not been studied, and the site remains an important unpublished archive.
