Glass plate slide of Blackbury Castle main rampart and ditch

Blackbury Castle is an Iron Age hillfort in east Devon. Parts of the site were excavated by the Devon Archaeological Exploration Society in the 1950s. This is one of a series of photographic images recording their work between 1952-1954 and shows the main rampart and ditch in its then woodland setting, from the west. A workman is standing in the bottom of the ditch as a scale.
