Lantern hook and chain

This hook and fragment of chain were found during excavations at the Roman site in St Loyes, Exeter. They are from a lantern, a rare type of lighting in Roman Britain and the only examples of this type of object from Roman Exeter. The photographs show the hook and chain before and after they were conserved by the museum’s conservation team.
