This photograph by Alfred Rowden shows the church inside the military compound at Basra, Iraq. The photo was probably intended to be seen alongside slide 45/1960/95/1135. Rowden was in Mesopotamia during the First World War and was not sent home until 1919 or 1920. He photographed scenes like this to record his experiences.
