Magic Lantern Slide: Bakuba Refugee Camp

The title of this photographic slide probably refers to the refugee camp north of Baghdad, which houses Assyrian deportees and refugees between 1918-1920. The image shows a group of refugees standing outside the camp. Although the slide is in the collection created by Alfred Rowden, the slide title shows the photograph was reproduced from an image by someone called Bonham. This was presumably a fellow military man, as there are several other photos by him in Rowden’s collection. Rowden was in Mesopotamia during the First World War and was not sent home until 1919 or 1920.
