Magic Lantern Slide: Long Tailed Tit’s Nest

Alfred Rowden was a keen amateur photographer and natural historian in Exeter. He often gave talks at local field clubs, illustrated with magic lantern slides that he created or purchased from commercial manufacturers. Although most of his photographs are taken outdoors, some of them like this were taken inside, and it is likely he had a dedicated area in his home for making and processing photographic images. Alfred has hand-painted this black and white photograph to represent the colours of the flowers of the supporting plant.
