Magic Lantern Slide: Exe Head

Alfred Rowden was a keen amateur photographer and natural historian in Exeter. He often gave talks at local field clubs, illustrated with magic lantern slides that he created or purchased from commercial manufacturers. This photograph shows a woman sitting in grass at Exe Head, the source of the river Exe on Exmoor. The woman is thought to be Alfred’s wife.
