Magic Lantern Slide: Women next to tent and sheep
This photograph by Alfred Oliver Rowden shows four women outside a tent with a flock of sheep around them. They appear to be carrying out a domestic task, possibly grinding grain. Rowden was in Mesopotamia during the First World War and was not sent home until 1919 or 1920. He photographed daily scenes like this to record his experiences.
