Magic Lantern Slide: View through gateway with children

This photograph by Alfred Oliver Rowden shows the view from a gateway into a town, with a number of children looking at the camera. Another slide shows the other side of this gateway (see slide 45/1960/95/989). Rowden was in Mesopotamia during the First World War and was not sent home until 1919 or 1920. He photographed daily scenes like this to record his experiences.
