Flask-shaped jar

This clay vessel illustrates the extent of the Huari kingdom, which dominated a huge region within Peru some 800 miles in length. Their art was clearly influenced by the coastal Nazca, and the Tiahuanaco empire. It was acquired by the donor from tombs near Callao in 1881.
