Arrowheads
These items were described by their collector as ‘Greek arrow-heads, of various types. (1) Leaf shaped with central ridges and socket. (2) Fusil-shaped, three-sided. (3) With three blades merging at the point. (4) Conical, with rudimentary barbs. (5) Without neck, but pierced for shaft. Types 4 and 5 may be Persian, and were found on Battlefield of Marathon (fought B.C. 490)’. They belonged to Lieutenant Colonel Montague who collected over 800 classical archaeological objects, which he bequeathed to the museum on his death.
