Krater wine bowl
On one side of this ancient Greek vessel is a scene depicting two warriors carrying spears, accompanied by dogs and two women. On the reverse are two women in conversation with satyrs behind them. Although the vessel itself is ancient, it is thought that the painting may have been added later.
It belonged to Lieutenant Colonel Montague who collected over 800 classical archaeological objects, which he bequeathed to the museum on his death.
