Spear
This spear was made for use by a Nandi junior warrior. Its shape became popular in the 19th century likely due to the influx of trade in this part of the world.
The metal butt lacks any markings that would identify the age-set, locality and sub-clan of the owner. This item may instead have been purchased by the owner directly from the blacksmith.
Acquired by Colonel Broun during his journey through East Africa in 1904. Maximum length = 2067mm. Spearhead 982mm, hand grip 124mm, iron butt 961mm.
