Sugar pot
A slip decorated sugar pot from North Devon. This container has been inscribed with the message If you Some Sugar now have Got pray put it In this Little pot 1791. The pot is made from earthenware but we do not know the maker. The pot has been covered in a layer of slip (thin clay) and the writing and zig zag decoration were then scratched through the slip to show the clay beneath.
