Horse harness plate
This metal plaque is engraved with the words “Exeter City Council” and is a plate from a horse’s harness. The museum’s records record it was “picked up attached to harness by salvage party between Bethune and Lens at Mazingarbe and brought to the donor after the armistice”. It shows the city of Exeter authorities were supplying horses and equipment to the First World War efforts.
