Basket

A cylindrical basket with a flat base of closely set twining which continues up the sides for 6 rows. The sides then continue with alternative rows of
a. plain weave
b. single pair twining
three rows in red, three in brown - over pairs of verticals. At the rim are two close rows of single-pair twining and a row of braided stitching to hold the edge, the ends of the verticals being cut off very close.

This was collected by Edgar Dewdney in the late 19th/ early 20th century. Dewdney’s wife bequeathed the item to RAMM in 1927.
