Basket

A flat-based, rectangular basket. Bundle coil construction of cedar root skin strips with red cherry bark tucked overlay (imbrication). The geometric design, in this instance representing butterflies, is one of several traditional motifs. This basket was collected in the Fraser River region, and at the time of receipt into the Museum (1927) was documented as being over 100 years old.

Collected by Edgar Dewdney in the late 19th or early 20th century.
