Leather saddle bag

The Mandinka trade in enslaved people began long before the European colonial era. It was a significant part of the trans-Saharan caravan trade between West Africa and the Middle East.

Acquired by James Bandinel 1819-49 whilst working in the anti-slavery department at the Foreign Office.
