European cave spider

Adult cave spiders prefer permanently dark and damp places including caves, sewers, cellars, tunnels and mines. They hang teardrop-shaped egg sacs on a short length of silk from the ceiling, while their large orb webs capture small invertebrates. This one was found in a cave at Berry Head near Brixham.
