Dagger

A broken cassowary bone dagger. These birds are found only in north Queensland. The dagger has an unusual edge, it’s been carved into scallop shape with 7 holes drilled into it. Leg bone daggers and scrapers were imported into the Torres Strait from Papua New Guinea. Feathers were in use for dances on the Torres Straits. Likely a trade item.
