Amphora

This is a White Painted Ware jar or ‘amphora’ with two lug handles and was made in the Cypriot Iron Age. It is decorated with dark horizontal rings round the neck and body and shows signs of wear. The shape of this jar was influenced by Greek pottery but it was made in Cyprus. This vessel was donated to the museum in 1882.
