Congresbury Carving

This remarkable carving probably comes from the shrine of St Cyngar. He may have been born in Wales in the late 400s and lived as a holy man at Congresbury. His grave became a place of pilgrimage and a shrine was built to honour him. The carving includes the figures of Christ (right) and St Peter. It was found at Congresbury and dates from about AD 1000.
